most phones today are not easily broken by water unless they stayed there for long ( even the non-waterproof phones can be saved)
Your Smartphone or any type of phone has accidentally felt in the water you have to do the following immediately
Remove it from water as fast as you can
Switch off the phone and do not power it on until later
Do not plug the phone into a charging unit (all the above should be done to prevent further damages to your prestigious phone)
Disable the user-removable parts only if you are not a professional mobile phone repair technician
Some of the things that you should avoid to help your phone from water damage
Using a source of heat to dry your phone is also another danger to your hone since most of the mobile parts are not made to work in conditions of higher temperatures.
Blowing with hot air can also damage your phone further.
Moving your phone too much or shaking your device may lead to water draining to some parts that were not previously affected with water or even push water into deeper areas some of which may be seriously sensitive to moisture.
Don’t press any key on your device.
NB: there is no guarantee that your phone will work after it fell in the water but the good news is that most phones nowadays tend to be water-resistant and only some parts can be affected by water but these parts can be replaced which is a cheaper option compared to buying a new phone. Also learn to back up most of your user data, to avoid complete data loss in case your phone completely get damaged

Now, what should you do when your Smartphone accidentally gets into the water?
Remove it from water as fast as possible
Power it off and if possible get the battery off your phone (water and electricity are never good friends)
Disassemble the phone cautiously and only remove the parts that are user-removable like, SIM cards, TF cards, back, battery) u can proceed further only if you are3 a professional or sure never to damage the hone further.
Dry the disassembled parts with a paper towel or a vacuum drier
Use drying agents that can absorb water as fast as possible
Some drying agents (also called desiccants )that are easily available include
Rice (natural but may stick on your phone)
Calcium sulfate can absorb 10% of its weight before it needs to be replaced
Silica gel etc(is the most reliable since it can absorb the moisture of up to 40% of its weight before it needs to be changed or replaced)
But it works best in lower temperatures that are low than 25o C
Leave it in a desiccant for up to more than 24 hours average of 36 hours is better and assemble your phone back again and indeed it will function if the damage was not too extreme to the phone.

Please dont do the following when your phone drop in water
- Don’t insert the towel inside the charging port.
- Don’t insert any other objects inside the charging port. Like cotton swabs.
- Don’t press any keys or buttons on your phone.
- Don’t shake, tap or bang the phone.
- Don’t put a fan on it or blow on it.
- Don’t charge the phone. Even if you have a wireless charging mat.
