The ministry of health is currently under the leadership of Mutahi Kagwe who is the cabinet secretary. The health ministry has been on the forefront of ensuring there is containment measures such as wearing face masks, washing hands, maintaining social distance and sanitizing hands as ways of curbing the spread of Covid-19.
The ministry of health has warned that the country is experiencing shortage of Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) to help sustain the HIV/AIDS patients.
According to the ministry’s report, over 1.2 million Kenyans are living with the virus and ARVs have been very instrumental towards their immune system. Chief Administrative Secretary CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi has said that the ARVs that are available will service the patients for the next one month only.
In conclusion, there has been reports of having a standoff between the government and the USAID as the ARVs drugs are held at the Mombasa ports until the USAID clears a revenue debt of over Ksh 45 million.
