Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Wekesa Barasa beat up a contractor on Friday after the contractor attempted to bar him from commissioning the classes he had built until he was paid.

Trouble started when the MP arrived at the Kamukuywa ward school to open the classes built by the National Government Constituency Development Fund, he discovered that the contractor had locked them.

The lessons were closed when the legislator arrived, with the contractor saying that he had not yet been paid for the renovation.
The contractor claimed that since his crew finished the project, the MP had been slow to pay and that they needed all of their outstanding bills paid before the school could open.

“When we urged the MP to pay us, he stated that he does not give contractors half their money, but rather the whole amount, and that he will do so, and that we should not be concerned.

According to Citizen TV, the contractor added, “I have closed these classes because they cannot begin to operate without me being paid because they would be spoiled by youngsters and he might end up refusing to pay me totally.”
