At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Kenya’s fastest man Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala smashed another world record in athletics on Saturday, August 31st.
The Kenyan university student was competing in the men’s 100 meters competition.
Omanyala is Kenya’s fastest man, having run 100 meters in 10 .11 seconds, the quickest time ever recorded by a Kenyan.
However, he set a new personal best today when he finished in third place with a time of 10.01, which was comparable to the time set by Australian athlete Rohan Browning, who led heat 7 in a separate heat.
Omanyala was competing in one of the most difficult Heats. The heat got off to a difficult start, with Nigeria’s quickest man being disqualified.
There were eight heats in total, with only the top three disqualifying for the Olympic men’s 100 meters semi-final.
This comes just a few hours after Mark Otieno (Pictured Above) who was also to participate in the 100 meters race was disqualified after he tested positive for a banned substance called “Methasterone”, an anabolic steroid.
