The youth in Kenya are the most affected by the lack of jobs and income. Significant growth of the economy will only be realized once the greater percentage of the youth in Kenya have achieved jobs or businesses. Our leaders, in a bid for the 2022 general elections have taken advantage of the youth situation in Kenya and promised to provide a monthly stipend for the unemployed and the youth.
Raila Odinga recently pledged for a 6000 Kenya shilling monthly stipend for every unemployed Kenyan in a visit to Naivasha recently. This was during a rally that was planned in a bid for the 2022 presidential elections. This however, has been criticized by most Kenyan leaders as being an abuse of power and an insult to unemployed Kenyans.
Raila told Kenyans that his administration will strictly focus on the creation of timely jobs for the youth and the promotion of self-sufficiency through the development of the monthly stipend program. He termed this as a social welfare matter. He said it is a requirement for the central government to come up with a youth commission that will cover the issues of the youth in terms of job creation and character development.

William Ruto conflicted Hon. Raila Odingas pledge to Kenyans and termed it as an insult to the intelligent youth of Kenya who are looking to honestly make a living in their country and refuse to take hand outs from politicians. Ruto said that the youth in Kenya are creative and innovative enough to make a living on their own. While on his hustler agenda, the deputy president went ahead to promote his hustler narrative and the hard work of Kenyans in the country by promising to contribute 100million Kenya shillings to the initiative every year if he is chosen as the president in the 2022 general election.
