

Olympic champion and world record holder Eliud Kpchoge won the Tokyo Marathon on his debut on Sunday morning, setting a new course record time of 2 hours, 02 minutes, 40 seconds.
Kipchoge has now won four of the six World Major Marathon Series races, becoming only the second man to do so since Wilson Kipsang in 2006.

Kipchoge led a Kenyan one-two finish, with Amos Kipruto finishing second in 2 hours, 03 minutes, 13 seconds and Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola finishing third in 2 hours, 04 minutes, 14 seconds.

Meanwhile, Brigid Kosgei completed the Kenyan double in Tokyo by winning the women’s race in 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 02 seconds.
