The government has declared that Monday, 10th October 2022, will be a public holiday aimed at promoting unity and natural cohesion.
The outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Monday next week a public holiday.
In a statement released on Friday, Matiang’i said that Kenyans will celebrate Utamaduni day during the holiday.
“It is hereby notified that Monday, October 10, 2022 will be public holiday,” the statement read.
Previously,it was marked as Moi Day before the name was later changed to Huduma Day.
The declaration is expected to be followed by a gazette notice in line with the law.

“All citizens are reminded to honour the day by recognizing and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of
Kenya in a manner that promotes our unity, national cohesion, and economic progress,” the Ministry of
Interior wrote in a statement released to the public.
